I feel like Milton is most certainly alive. When you view his story, you watch the flipbook, the game doesn't take you into a sub-game of some sort to tell you his story. Also, when you draw his portrait in the family tree, he seems to have a distinct style separate from everyone else. Maybe I'm just reading too much into things, but I think that's the intention the developers wanted, pp to read into the story and think of things themselves.

so... spiders like to airdrop themselves onto my head... uh, 2 times that i remember, i have had a spider try to drop down from the ceiling onto my head, and at first i'd always think it's dust but then i actually look and i see it's a spider... there's this one spider, and i swear it's just the same one, that i keep seeing on my bed. i haven't seen it since my dad accidentally dropped it onto the floor while taking it away, sooo... i guess it's gone?

"Why do we have to sneak" and "Why is it SO DARK" in the early sections are easily answered by the fact that you're a kid awake past your bedtime getting into your Christmas presents early- same reason why the presents aren't under the tree yet!
